What does Safeguarding mean for bees for development ethiopia?
At Bees for Development, we take a zero tolerance approach towards sexual harassment, exploitation or abuse of any person, including participants, by anyone connected with our organisation. This commitment extends to include all our project work anywhere in the world and includes our overseas partner organisations. We all have a responsibility to do everything in our power to prevent any instances of harassment or abuse from happening, and to rigorously address it each and every time it occurs. One of the most important pillars of safeguarding is our Code of Conduct, which provides a framework within which all Bees for Development employees, volunteers, associates and partner staff, regardless of location, undertake to carry out their duties and to regulate their conduct.
What are the core elements of our code of conduct?
All employees, volunteers, associates and consultants have signed a Code of Conduct of behaviour and all undertake to refrain from:
· Engaging in any behaviour or activity that could amount to sexual exploitation and abuse
· Engaging in sexual activity with children (persons under the age of 18)
· Exchanging money, employment, goods, or services for sex
· Causing physical or emotional harm, humiliation or exploitation to any individual.
· Abusing their positions of power
· Engaging in sexual relationships that are based on unequal power dynamics (even if the people are above the age of 18)
